"After a wild bet, gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich, and cuddle with a baby goat, Alexis Montgomery has had her world turned upside down. The cause: Daniel Grant, a ridiculously hot carpenter who’s ten years younger than her and as casual as they come—the complete opposite of sophisticated city-girl Alexis. And yet their chemistry is undeniable.
While her ultra-wealthy parents want her to carry on the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis doesn’t need glory or fame. She’s fine with being a “mere” ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the tight-knit town where he lives, she’s discovering just what’s really important. Yet letting their relationship become anything more than a short-term fling would mean turning her back on her family and giving up the opportunity to help thousands of people.
Bringing Daniel into her world is impossible, and yet she can’t just give up the joy she’s found with him either. With so many differences between them, how can Alexis possibly choose between her world and his?"
What a delightful and heartwarming story.
Is there anyone out there that isn’t in love with Daniel after
reading this?
Because Daniel runs a B&B, he is skilled in the art of house maintenance and also happens to be a fantastic chef. If you've already read Part of Your World then I'm sure you noticed the recipe for his lingonberry crepes in the back of the book, but I think the French Toast was described so deliciously and it was given more of a presence in this novel so that’s what I'm whipping up!
“Daniel
cleared his throat from the end of the table.
‘Baked French toast with a splash of Madagascar bourbon vanilla, topped
with macerated berries, served with candied maple bacon and fresh melon. Let me know if I can get you anything else.’
A smile and a flicker of eye contact with me and then he left the room.”
I've never been a fan of French Toast. I know what you're thinking: "how can you not like French Toast?!" I've tried it several times and the combination of sweet eggs and soggy bread just doesn't do it for me so I was hesitant to make my own.
I just loved this book. Part of Your World has the comfort of a Hallmark movie while still tackling heavier topics such as toxic relationships and emotional abuse. I was rooting for Alexis and Daniel from the beginning and relentlessly flipped pages eager to find out how they were going to overcome their road blocks and combine their vastly different worlds.
Alexis is a wealthy, sophisticated, successful ER doctor with a family legacy to uphold and Daniel is the mayor of a small, tight-knit town that relies on him and he runs a bed and breakfast that has been in his family for generations and is dear to his heart. They are both so lovable and each of them have a passion for their individual lives and careers, but they are also interested in making it work with each other. I enjoyed watching them grow and consider their own happiness outside of others' expectations.
It had me laughing, it had me crying (just a tear or two), it tied my stomach in knots, and it even had a dash of spice. There was also a subtle magical element to the town of Wakan that added even more charm. If you're in the mood for a heartwarming contemporary romance, look no further, because Part of Your World is for you!
